2022 Spring VISA Information

VISA Information for International Students 

 

 

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, visiting the immigration office without a prior online reservation is prohibited. Therefore, please refer to the following information on visa procedures for students enrolled in the first semester of 2022.

 

 Visa Extension

1. Application method

   A. e-Application: HiKorea (www.hikorea.go.kr) > Log in >  e-Application (Detailed information in attachments)

Weekdays 07:00 to 22:00 (Excluding weekends and public holidays)

   B. Reserve visit: HiKorea (www.hikorea.go.kr) >  Reserve visit  >  Visit Reservation Application (Non-member) >  Identity verification using passport or ARC number  >  Book your visit date and time  >  Visit immigration office on the reservation date

    C. Group application: March 15, 2022 (Tuesday) on Campus (Detailed information will be announced later, additional fees will be charged)

 

 

2. Required documents

Application fee

Process time

3-4 weeks from

the submission date

* Do not leave Korea until the procedure is complete

Required Documents

Application Form

* When applying for reissuance, a new photo taken within 6 months must be submitted

Copy of the information page on your passport

* If a new passport was issued, it must be reported to the immigration office

Certificate of Enrollment

* Can be issued on the 1st floor of Hwado-gwan or Hanwool-gwan with a certificate printing machine

Academic Transcript

* After the transcript examination, additional document “Statement of Reasons for Underachievement” can be requested

* For those who go under the detailed examination, group application is not available (individual application is required)

a)   A semester with a GPA of 1.0 or lower within the last year (even if the overall GPA is 2.0 or higher)

b)   4 or more F grades within the last year (even if your overall GPA is 2.0 or higher)

Proof of Paid Tuition Fees

* Tuition fee payment receipt of this semester (Print from KLAS)

* Confirmation of installment payment can be received at the Office of International Affairs

Proof of

Financial Capacity

* Submission exemption: Applicants who are enrolled in a regular semester with a GPA of 2.0 or higher for all semesters

Required submission:

·  Regular semester students who do not meet the above conditions for exemption from submission

·   Those who have completed the regular semester and have completed the extra semester (the thesis author in the case of master's and doctoral degrees)

"Certificate of Balance" (잔고증명서) of a domestic bank under the name of an applicant (issued within 20 days of the application date)

a)   Visa extension for 1 semester: 5000 USD or more

b)   Visa extension for over 2 semesters: 10.000 USD or more

Proof of Residence

*  Dormitory: Confirmation of Dormitory Residence

*  Residence under your name: Copy of lease or rent contract

*  Residence under others name: 

1)   Confirmation of Residence/Accommodation” (“거주숙소제공확인서”) (attached form)

2)   Copy of the accommodation providers ID card (needed both sides copied)

3)   Copy of the lease contract under the provider’s name

Additional papers

Undergraduates delayed graduation

Proof of a delayed graduation

* Signed by the OIA staff

* Must include specific reasons for the delay in graduation (in case you havent met the credit requirements, need to submit your course schedule for this semester)

Graduate students delayed graduation

Certificate of Completion of Courses

 

Thesis advisor’s confirmation letter

* Signed by the faculty advisor and the OIA staff

* The thesis writing schedule must be specified in detail by month



3. Notes

A. You cannot visit the immigration office without a reservation (even those whose visa expires on the same day are required to make a reservation, and waiting number tickets are not issued)

B. HiKorea e-Application can be applied up to one day before the visa expiration date (Excluding weekends and public holidays)

C. Students whose academic background has changed (leave of absence/dismissal/graduates) must leave the country within 30 days, regardless of their visa expiration date.

* However, if it is impossible to leave the country due to the absence of flights, etc., you must apply for the (COVID-19) Permit for an extended period for the departure of registered foreigners” through the HiKorea e-Application!
(Required documents: Passport, 1 ticket with departure date or letter of reason, proof of residence)
