The Department of Electrical Engineering adopted the ABEEK (Accreditation Board for Engineering Education in Korea) system in 2002 and has continuously advanced and improved its curriculum in the last 10 years, building an original renewable energy technology development center and participating in Korea Electric Power Corporation’s ‘Fundamental Workforce Development Project’, the ‘Capacity Building Project for Universities’ IT Departments’ of the Ministry of Information and Communications and the ‘Electric IT Workforce Development Project of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy. The Department relies heavily on the idea of ‘back-to-basics’ and is focused on producing electric engineering specialists that have comprehensive perspective, practical mindset as well as a sound knowledge in basics and specific concepts.

Educational Objectives
The Department started running a specialized electrical engineering program on March 1, 2002 in accordance with the qualification criteria set based on the ‘Recursive Self-Improvement Model’ developed by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea. The Program aims to produce electrical engineers who are equipped with a comprehensive knowledge in electrical systems, scientific thinking abilities and the ability to apply their knowledge in various fields. The demand for and the importance of more diverse and advanced electrical engineering studies are increasing with the growing size of electrical and electronic industries in our society and, electrical engineering education and training plays an important role in meeting such demand. The Department has developed the following educational objectives for its specialized electrical engineering program,
1. To produce engineers with extensive knowledge in basic sciences
2. To develop students’ field-adaptability by strengthening experimental and practical courses
3. To produce electrical engineers equipped with creative system design skills
4. To produce electrical specialists with expertise and ethical mindset

The Department offers courses on the areas listed above as well as on basic theories and experiments and its graduate program is divided into masters and Ph.D. programs. The Department offers in-depth education, actively carries out research projects including various industry-academy collaborative projects and aims to contribute to the advancement of electrical engineering field.
