Gangbuk Youth Startup Maru”, commissioned by Kwangwoon University Industry-University Cooperation Foundation (Director Cheol-hwan Park), held an opening ceremony at 10 am on April 5 (Tuesday). The ceremony was held in the presence of Gyeom-su Park, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, district councilors, city councilors, and local youth.

"Gangbuk Youth Startup Maru" is a facility that complexly integrates and operates the Seoul Youth Center ("Gangbuk Orang") and the Startup Center. The Seoul Youth Center “Gangbuk Orang” provides customized services for young people in the region, such as providing youth support information, supporting youth community operation, and operating programs to revitalize youth spaces. The "Startup Center" nurtures prospective entrepreneurs who wish to start a business, including recruitment and management of resident companies, startup education and consulting, and provides a wide range of support and services for successful startups.

The center is located near the "April 19th National Cemetery" of the Ui-Sinseol LRT. It is a stand-alone building from the first basement floor to the fifth floor with a total floor area of 676.49 (about 7281.68 ft2). Various activity spaces have been created on each floor, with the Seoul Youth Center "Gangbuk Orang" on the 1st to 3rd floors, and the "Startup Center" on the 1st basement and 4th to 5th floors.

On the ceremony day, Kwangwoon Academy Chairman Seon-young Cho gave a speech. “Seoul, Gangbuk and Kwangwoon - the three of them share ideas about employment and starting a business. We are glad to find a solution and contribute together to the process of revitalizing the local economy. I hope that Gangbuk Youth Startup Maru will give young people endless opportunities, and that Gangbuk-gu residents’ entrepreneurship will become a ‘successful process’ so that creative ideas can lead to the realization of innovative values”, he said.

In addition, Kwangwoon University President Jong-heon Kim stated, “We expect the Seoul Youth Center (Gangbuk Orang) to grow under the leadership of the Gangbuk-gu youth based on Kwangwoon University’s excellent infrastructure and center program. We expect that the Startup Center will create a healthy startup ecosystem for entrepreneurs and prospective entrepreneurs in the region.”
