Dr. Cho Kwangwoon Hwado 42nd Anniversary Memorial Ceremony

 - Chairman Chosun-Young said, “Kwangwoon must succeed and develop with one accord, following the foundation ideology.”

 - President Kim Jong-heon said, “I am determined to devote myself to the development of mankind and nurturing human resources by accepting the will of the founder.”

A memorial service for the 42nd anniversary of Dr. Hwado Kwang-woon Cho, the founder of Kwangwoon University, was held on April 20, 2022 (Wednesday) at 11 am. As a result of the lifting of restrictions on gatherings and events due to COVID-19, the memorial service was held at the founder's graveyard in the presence of the bereaved family of the deceased, the executives of the Hwado Memorial Foundation, the heads of affiliated organizations, the alumni associations, and the officials of the affiliated organizations.

The memorial service began with the opening meal, followed by introduction of the deceased's biography, remembrance speech, flowers, and a moment of silence. The biography was introduced by Kim Ah-hyeon (Korean Language and Literature, Class 21, Bimarang) at Kwangwoon University. Then, a memorial service was held in the order of Chosun Young Hwado Memorial Project Association and Kwangwoon Academy Chairman, Kim Jong-heon, President of Kwangwoon University, and Jeong Ji-man, Principal of Kwangwoon Middle School.

Chairman Cho Seon-young, who read the first commemorative speech, said, “The Kwangwoon Academy, established by the founder 88 years ago for the development of the country and nurturing future talents, has been developing until now.” He also emphasized the significance of the memorial service, saying, “Let Kwangwoon succeed and develop it with one accord, following the foundation ideology established by the founder.”

In the words of President Kim Jong-heon, “I express my respect and love for the founder who devoted himself to nurturing talented people for the future of the country.” He then honored the founder, saying, I promise to follow this example and live a life without shame, share and love, and devote myself to the development of mankind and nurturing talented people.”

Principal Jeong Ji-man, who read the final remarks, paid tribute to the founder, saying, "I send my respect and gratitude to the founder, who has been a great force in the development of the nation through education."

Starting with the deceased's family, the memorial service was concluded with flowers and a moment of silence at the cemetery of the founder in the order of executives of Kwangwoon Academy and Hwado Memorial Project, the heads of affiliated organizations, alumni association officers, and officials of affiliated organizations.
