On June 16th, Kwangwoon University's School of Media and Communication (Dean Lim Soyoung) conducted a KBS excursion trip program for foreign students with the support of the Ministry of International Affairs (Director Han Jaehyeon) and the University Innovation Project Team. 23 international students from various countries including Vietnam, China, Malaysia, Ukraine, and Turkey participated in this program. 

International students learned about the history and role of KBS, a representative domestic broadcasting company. They participated in various activities and experienced the atmosphere of the broadcasting site. The students visited a virtual studio, TV co-control, and radio drama production rooms, watched some old cartoon movies, and finally tried the pin screen.

Hwa Ichan, a student in the School of Media and Communication (Class 19th) said, “Since I am a transfer student, college life in Korea was relatively unfamiliar to me. However, I made friends thanks to this excursion trip and had a fun time participating in different activities with them. It was a pity that because of COVID there were no meetings before, but I look forward to various programs in the future.”

Oh Changhak, the head of international students in the Department of Media and Communication, who planned and conducted this program, said, “We prepared this opportunity for excursion study for international students who have been taking online classes because of COVID-19.” Lim Soyoung, Dean of Media Communication, said, “I hope that visiting places closely related to the specialty at the School of Media and Communication will help students in their careers and studies.”

Han Jaehyeon, Director of Office of International Affairs, said, “We plan to expand support for non-curricular programs in each department for international students who struggled because of COVID-19. The Office of International Affairs is also planning to provide various activities to international students through the Kwangwoon Harmony Program.”
