Makerspace Kwangwoon Workshop Achieved “The Highest Grade in the Annual Evaluation of 2021” 

- The cumulative number of events, training, and equipment use exceeded 800 people. Expanding 4th industrial revolution experience activities such as VR, 3D printer, company-wide equipment, and one-person media as a representative maker space in the region -

 

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups' makerspace business, Kwangwoon Creative Studio (Chairman Park Chul-hwan), which is being operated at the school, announced that it achieved a splendid achievement of "S grade" in the annual evaluation of the business in 2021.

 

Kwangwoon Workshop is a maker space selected and operated by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2020 at Kwangwoon University for the makerspace construction and operation project. The Kwangwoon Workshop, which consists of a Digital Factory and a Story Making Room, provides 3D printers, leather workshops, transfer equipment, and shooting space, and is operating programs to experience the 4th industrial revolution and various educational programs to enhance professionalism.

In 2021, Kwangwoon Workshop contributed to the spread of maker culture through various activities with Seongbuk Youth Center, Seoul Women's Crafts Center, Guri Award Zone Revival Foundation, and Hyundai High School, and supported maker activities for Kwangwoon University students and local residents.

 

Despite the situation with COVID-19, various activities, training programs and equipment use were carried out, and the cumulative number exceeded 800 people, achieving an average of 157.4% of the business goal achievement rate.

 

Recently, Kwangwoon Creative Studio has been helping students in career exploration through the Biz School program that has been held for two consecutive years with Hyundai High School, and is continuing its active activities such as conducting a job experience program using a 3D printer with Gileum Middle School.

Park Cheolhwan, head of Kwangwoon Creative Studio, said, “The goal of Kwangwoon University’s makerspace project is to build a makerspace where you can experience the 4th industrial revolution in your life. I will do my best to make Kwangwoon Creative Studio a project that works with the local community in the future”.
