Professor Hyunkyung Kim (Department of Information Convergence) Research Team Awarded Grand Prize at the 7th Barrier-free App Development Contest

Professor Kim Hyunkyung (Department of Information Convergence) and the research team (Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence Application, Lee Yoo-ryun, Kim Ga-young, Lee Dan-bi) received the Grand Prize, CEO of Hyundai Autoever, at the Barrier-Free App Development Contest held at the International Conference Hall of the Seoul Global Center on February 15.

The Kitch Catch team, consisting of students Lee Yoo-ryun, Kim Ga-young, and Lee Dan-bi (Advisor: Kim Hyeon-gyeong), developed a kitschy catch application to guide the digitally vulnerable class on how to use the kiosk in the contest. The Kitch Catch app is a kiosk education app for middle and senior citizens, providing a tutorial to understand the order of use and functions of the kiosk and a simulation function to experience the kiosk. The app can currently be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

The team said, "Through this contest, we were able to publicize the difficulties of the middle/elderly people in using kiosks, and it was a meaningful time to think deeply about the accessibility of kiosks and implement them with technology." The Kitch Catch team will continue to operate the app by updating additional features.

Meanwhile, the 'Barrier-Free App Development Contest' is an app development contest for undergraduate (graduate) students to guarantee human rights, promote convenience, and protect rights and interests of the socially vulnerable, hosted by Hyundai Autoever and Greenlight, an NGO specializing in mobility. This year marks the 7th year, and a total of 107 teams participated in this contest.
