Stepping towards Kwangwoon's 100th Anniversary: Commemoration Ceremony for the 89th Anniversary of Kwangwoon's Establishment

The commemoration ceremony for the 89th anniversary of Kwangwoon University's establishment was held at the Donghae Cultural Arts Center Theater on the 19th at 10:30 AM. The event was attended by Jo Mu-sung, the founding president of Kwangwoon University, Chosun-young, the chairman of Kwangwoon Academy, Kim Jong-heon, the president of Kwangwoon University, and Cho Kwang-sik, the president of Kwangwoon University Alumni Association.

The ceremony began with an opening ritual, followed by a national ceremony, a reading of the spirit of scholarship, a commemorative speech by Chairman Chosun-young, a congratulatory speech by President Kim Jong-heon, a congratulatory speech by Alumni Association President Cho Kwang-sik, and various awards presentations. 

Chairman Chosun-young stated, "The educational philosophy of the founder lies in upholding the dignity of being human, characterized by pragmatism and a loving heart. Let us carry on the founder's educational philosophy, unite our hearts and goals, and prepare together for the future of Kwangwoon University as we approach its centennial." 

President Jongheon Kim remarked, "Kwangwoon has been producing outstanding talents in accordance with the educational philosophy of valuing human beings, upholding their dignity, and nurturing a loving heart. I hope that our warm Kwangwoon, which fosters mutual respect and consideration, continues to develop sustainably and embraces members of our society." 

Alumni Association President Cho Kwang-sik stated, "Following the educational philosophy of Dr. Hwado Cho Kwang-woon, Kwangwoonians play an important role in today's era based on 'truth and light'. Let us all collaborate and have affection for our school in order to achieve continuous development and elevate the status of Kwangwoon." 

Following the speeches, an awards ceremony was held, including long-service awards (8 employees for 30 years of service, 7 employees for 20 years, 47 employees for 10 years), the Best Teacher Award (3 recipients), the Chambit Education Award (2 recipients), the Chambit Academic Award (3 recipients), the Industry-Academia Cooperation Award (4 recipients), the Chambit Model Award (4 recipients), the Administrative Service Award (2 recipients), commendations (6 recipients), and the Minister of Education Award (4 recipients). The ceremony concluded with the commemoration of the establishment.
