Professor Jang Min’s research team (Jang Seok-bum, Yoon So-yeon, Hwang Geon-deok, Dr. Jong Cho-eun, Professor Choi Eun-ha, and Professor Jang Min) from Kwangwoon University's Department of Environmental Engineering have developed a award-winning floatable photocatalyst (P-ZsZc) for the treatment of submerged residual antibiotic sulfamethoxazole (SMX). They have also elucidated the photocatalytic mechanism for the treatment of SMX as a submerged residual antibiotic.
This research was supported by the Korea Research Foundation and the Ministry of Education and was conducted as part of the Basic Science Research Support Program (Grant No. 2021R1A6A1A03038785 and 2023R1A2C1003464). The findings were published in the Chemical Engineering Journal (IF: 16.74, JCR rank: 2.8%) on July 1, 2023, under the title "Enhanced in-situ oxygen evolution and hydrogen peroxide production by a floatable ZnO-incorporated polyurethane photocatalyst for sulfamethoxazole degradation.
