“SW/AI Camp with Robots”Held

- Kwangwoon University Intelligent Robot Innovation Convergence Project 88 Robot Day : Together Robot Education, Robot Boot Camp 2023 Held -

Kwangwoon University Intelligent Robot Innovation Sharing University Division received support from the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and the Korea Science Creativity Foundation in August. They provided opportunities to expand digital education for elementary, middle, and high school students and organized a Digital Seedling Camp to mitigate the digital education gap. As part of the Advanced Field Innovation Convergence University Project, on the 11th, the university conducted intelligent robot education for elementary and middle school students.

The university provided education on coding and operation using robot kits for elementary and middle school students in Seoul. Students who received robot education participated in a robot boot camp with the goal of completing robot operations within a given time frame. 

Professor Park Kwang-hyun (Department of Robotics), who oversaw the robot boot camp, stated, "Through the Digital Seedling Camp, students will become familiar with digital fields such as software and AI that they might not normally encounter, and through expanded education in related fields, we hope to contribute to the career paths of young people and the national digital infrastructure."

Jung Moon-ho, Director of the Intelligent Robot Innovation Sharing University Division (Department of Robotics), mentioned, "Around 300 participants, including young students and professors, joined to create a meaningful robot boot camp. We hope that this cycle of collaborative robot education will continue to support the growth of future robotic scientists."

Meanwhile, the "Digital Seedling Camp" is a project organized by the Ministry of Education, 17 Provincial Offices of Education, and the Korea Science Creativity Foundation. It aims to provide expanded digital education opportunities for students and alleviate the digital education gap. Operating from July 19, 2023, to February 29, 2024, the camp offers SW/AI education, with Kwangwoon University selected as the operating institution for the Seoul/Incheon area. The camp involves both visiting camps for elementary, middle, and high school students and on-site camps at Kwangwoon University.

Under the theme of "SW/AI Camp with Robots," Kwangwoon University provides tailored SW and AI education by current faculty members for students attending schools in Seoul. The 88 Robot Day, held for the second time this year, took place from the 7th to the 11th at various universities across the country, including Kwangwoon University in Seoul, Busan (Pukyong National University), Cheonan (Sangmyung University), Ansan (Hanyang University ERICA), and Siheung (Korea University of Technology and Education). Kwangwoon University conducted robot education for elementary and middle school students under the catchphrase "Educating with Robots, Robot Boot Camp 2023."
