The Guri City Youth Startup Support Center
(Director: Jang Suwoong), operated by Kwangwoon University's Industry-Academia
Cooperation Division, has been selected for the '2023 Presidential Committee on
Balanced National Development Specialized Youth Project,' hosted by the
Presidential Committee's Youth Policy Coordination Office and supported by the
Central Youth Support Center of the Korea Youth Work Foundation.
This project aims to develop and promote region-specific
programs tailored to the demands and characteristics of local youth, with the
purpose of fostering youth development and enhancing their rights.
The Guri City Youth Startup Support Center has been
dedicated to devising efficient support programs to ensure the sustainable
operation of young entrepreneurs' businesses. In order to address this, the
proposal for 'Support for Live Commerce Operations to Open New Markets for
Resident Companies' was put forth and subsequently selected.
As of July 2023, the Guri City Youth Startup Support
Center houses 52 young entrepreneurs who engage in active economic activities,
contributing to local economic development. It serves as a cornerstone of local
youth governance, planning and executing various support programs in
collaboration with the region's youth.
Director Jang Suwoong of the Guri City Youth Startup
Support Center stated, "The center focuses on five key youth policies―employment,
education, welfare, and culture―acting as a pivotal force in local youth
governance. This project enables us to provide an upgraded platform for market
expansion, and we are delighted about this opportunity."
Director Jeong Young-wook of the Industry-Academia
Cooperation Division commented, "Kwangwoon university, along with various
local government bodies such as Seoul City, Nowon District, Gangbuk District,
and Dongdaemun District, operates diverse youth activity platforms. Through the
synergy and integration of these platforms, we will continue to do our best to
create ongoing success stories of mutual development between universities and
local communities."
