Wins Outstanding Poster Award at International Conference

-Establishing Disease Diagnosis System Using Cloud Computing-

Joo-Won Lee (master’s program) of the research team of Professor Jun-Seop Shim (Department of Electronic Convergence Engineering), won the outstanding poster award at the international conference, 'Biosensors 2023, 33rd Anniversary World Congress on Biosensors' held in Busan in the first half of last year.

Student Joo-Won Lee presented "Cloud AI system that controlled microfluidic platform for diagnosis COVID-19." The diagnostic program works automatically based on high-performance artificial intelligence applied to low-power edge devices through cloud computing technology to reduce costs and improve efficiency by simultaneously controlling multiple platforms. The program, which diagnoses coronavirus based on precise AI, can accurately measure concentrations up to 100 times lower than existing testing technologies. Through this, COVID-19 test results are stored in a database in real-time and visualized on a real-time responsive map, allowing for tracking the nationwide infection status.

Meanwhile, the World Congress on Biosensors is an international conference held every two years organized by Elsevier, a world-renowned publisher, and 《Biosensors and Bioelectronics》, a journal of IF10.618 in the field of biosensors. Professor Jun-Seop Shim's research team has been consistently winning awards at various academic conferences and competitions, including the Excellence Award at the 2021 Embedded Software Competition, the Director's Award at the 2022 Embedded Software Competition, and the Outstanding Paper Presentation Award at the 2022 Embedded Fall Conference.
