The
research team of Professor Jong-cheol Lee (Department of Electronic Convergence
Engineering) and Professor Nam-young Kim (Department of Electronic Engineering)
announced the successful development of a 'Multilayered GaAs IPD Resonator with
5 airbridges applicable to sensor systems through their joint research.

This
research has been widely recognized, to the extent that it has been published
as the cover paper for the March 2024 issue of Micromachines, an SCI-level
international journal. The link to access the journal is as follows: https://www.mdpi.com/2072-666X/15/3/367
In this
study, a Ring Resonator was integrated on a GaAs substrate using IPD processes
with multilayer spiral inductors and airbridges with a resonant frequency of
1.99 GHz, an insertion loss of 0.07 dB, a reflection loss of 39 dB, and a Q
value of 1.15.
The IPD Resonator sensor was used to detect glucose and demonstrated high sensitivity capable of detecting even small amounts of 0.2mg/mL, thereby indicating the potential to achieve high sensitivity in integrated systems and real-time sensing operations.
