The “University Startup Club Competition,” held as part of the 2024 Seoul Campus Town Startup Festival, aimed to promote entrepreneurship and expand the startup culture at universities in Seoul. It began in July and saw participation from 54 university startup clubs across Seoul. Through document screening and preliminary evaluations, five teams advanced to the finals.

The “Secretariat” team, which won the Excellence Award (Seoul Mayor’s Award), develops experiential cultural content combining traditional Korean culture with AR (Augmented Reality) technology. The team’s startup idea was refined during the 2nd Nowon Area University Joint Startup Camp (February 2024), co-hosted by Kwangwoon University, and grew into a fully developed startup item. The team went on to be selected as a startup club for the 2024 academic year, ultimately achieving success in this competition.

Ha-yeon Jo, the team leader (Class of 2017, School of Information Convergence), said, “I am grateful for the positive evaluation of our idea’s potential, and I plan to create a fun item based on the feedback we received during the competition. I also want to thank the staff of Kwangwoon University Industry-Academic Collaboration Foundation for their active support in helping us achieve this great result.”

Young-wook Jung, head of the Kwangwoon University Industry-Academic Collaboration Foundation, said, “At Kwangwoon University Industry-Academic Collaboration Foundation, we have been consistently discovering new startup clubs and supporting outstanding student startups through various entrepreneurship programs each year. Just as we achieved excellent results in this competition, we will continue to make every effort to help students refine their ideas and turn them into successful startups.”
