Professor Min Jang (Vice Director of the University-Centered Research Institute) from the Department of Environmental Engineering, along with core research professor Cho-eun Jung from the University-Centered Research Institute, will serve as guest editors for a special issue of the journal Separation and Purification Technology (Impact Factor: 8.1, Top 8% in JCR). They will collaborate with Professor Shane Snyder from Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, Georgia, USA), Professor Bedia Jorge from Universidad Aut?noma de Madrid (Madrid, Spain), Professor Bart Van der Bruggen from KU Leuven (Leuven, Belgium), and Professor Nathan Padoin from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Florian?polis, Brazil).

The upcoming special issue of the Separation and Purification Technology journal, ranked in the top 8% of JCR, will be published under the title "Photo-Based Advanced Oxidation Processes for the Removal of Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs)." Globally, most water resources have been contaminated by persistent organic pollutants (CECs), such as pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and endocrine-disrupting compounds (EDCs). The application of photo-based Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) for the removal of CECs has attracted significant attention from researchers due to its excellent performance in water treatment and energy efficiency.

This special issue will be published under the title "Photo-Based Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) for the Removal of CECs," and its aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state and future directions of photo-based AOPs for CEC removal.

Professor Min Jang currently serves as Vice Director of the University-Centered Research Institute, supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea. He has published around 180 papers in leading international SCI journals on topics such as water treatment and energy.
