·         Kwangwoon University Achieves 18th Place in the 2024 JoongAng Ilbo University Rankings

- Ranked 1st in "Citations per Paper in International Journals," a key indicator of research excellence -

Kwangwoon University (President Cheon Jang-ho) achieved the remarkable milestone of ranking 18th overall in the 2024 JoongAng Ilbo University Evaluation.

The 2024 JoongAng Ilbo University Evaluation is composed of four categories―Faculty Research (10 indicators, 95 points), Educational Environment (12 indicators, 75 points), Student Performance (10 indicators, 80 points), and Reputation (6 indicators, 40 points)―covering a total of 38 indicators and 290 points.

 

In the 2024 JoongAng Ilbo University Evaluation, the Faculty Research category accounts for 32%. This highlights its significant impact as an indicator. Kwangwoon University climbed six spots in the Faculty Research category compared to the previous evaluation, which contributed to its overall ranking improvement. Kwangwoon University demonstrated well-rounded progress in the Faculty Research category, achieving notable rankings such as: 1st in citations per paper in international journals, 16th in citations per paper in humanities and social sciences domestic journals, 5th in technology transfer revenue per faculty member in Science and Technology, and 10th in revenue per technology transfer case, ultimately securing 8th place overall. This demonstrates the exceptional quality of Kwangwoon University's research achievements.

In the Student Performance category, Kwangwoon University ranked 15th in Employment Retention Rates and 4th in Startup Support Funding, reaffirming its excellence in both employment and entrepreneurship support.

 

The university also demonstrated strength in the Educational Environment category. The university ranked 8th in Scholarships per Graduate School Tuition, 13th in Donations as a Percentage of Revenue, and 16th in the Ratio of Foreign Faculty Members.

 

Kwangwoon University President Cheon Jang-ho stated, "Our university's strong performance in the 2024 JoongAng Ilbo University Evaluation can be attributed to our capable faculty members producing high-quality research outcomes." The JoongAng Ilbo University Evaluation, South Korea's only comprehensive university ranking for the past 30 years, introduced new performance indicators this year to provide a more objective assessment of universities' competitiveness. Additionally, it expanded survey questions to better incorporate the perspectives of higher education stakeholders.
