· Professor Kim Hyun-kyung (School of Information Convergence) Research Team Wins Best Paper Award at the Ergonomics Society of Korea Student Paper Competition
Park Ha-yoon, a master’s student in the
Department of Artificial Intelligence Applications (advised by Professor Kim
Hyun-kyung), along with Kim Ga-young from the same department and Jang Hyun-jin
and Shin Hae-ri, undergraduate students in the School of Information
Convergence, received the Best Paper Award, Encouragement Award, and Excellence
Award, respectively, at the Student Paper Competition and the Capstone Design
Competition during the 2024 Ergonomics Society of Korea Fall Academic
Conference, held from November 13 to 16, 2024.
The Ergonomics Society of Korea, established in
1982 and now celebrating over 40 years, is a prestigious organization that
facilitates collaborative research across industry, academia, and research
institutions, with participation from organizations such as Samsung
Electronics, LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor Company, and the Korea Institute of
Industrial Technology.
Park Ha-yoon won the Best Paper Award at the
Student Paper Competition with her research titled "Proposal of an
Algorithm for Measuring Similarity in Mobile App UI Layouts." This study
was highly praised for proposing an algorithm capable of quantitatively
measuring the similarity of mobile app UI designs. Park Ha-yoon, the lead
author of the paper, shared her thoughts, saying, "I am delighted to have
proposed a practical solution through this research and hope to continue
conducting studies that provide tangible benefits to people."
Kim Ga-young received the Encouragement Award at
the Student Paper Competition for her research titled "Proposal for a
Design Method of Voice Assistance Guidelines for Seniors Using Kiosks." Her
study was highly regarded for its systematic three-step design of voice
assistance guidelines, aimed at improving kiosk accessibility for seniors and
making kiosks easier to use. Kim Ga-young, the lead author of the paper, stated,
"I hope to continue research that enhances digital accessibility for
seniors," adding, "I look forward to seeing this study applied to the
actual design of kiosks."
Jang Hyun-jin and Shin Hae-ri received the
Excellence Award at the Capstone Design Competition for their project titled
"Development and Evaluation of a Virtual Reality-Based Driver Training
Application." Their work was highly regarded for utilizing virtual reality
technology to provide simulations resembling real-world driving environments,
thereby contributing to the effectiveness of driver education. Jang Hyun-jin,
the lead author of the paper, stated, "Through this research, I was able
to deeply explore how virtual reality technology can be utilized in the
development of safety education content, and I am delighted to have presented a
practical and beneficial outcome."
Meanwhile, Professor Kim Hyun-kyung's research
team previously earned Excellence Awards in both the Student Paper Competition
and the Capstone Design Competition at the 2023 Ergonomics Society of Korea
Fall Academic Conference.
