Kim Sung-jin from the School of Computer and Information Engineering at our university, received the Grand Prize in the Student Division of the Corporate Sector at "WhiteHat Together Season 3." The event was jointly organized by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS), CJ OliveNetworks, and FinderGap.

The award ceremony was held on Friday, November 22, 2024, where Kim Sung-jin, the Grand Prize winner, was presented with a certificate of recognition.

Since 2022, KISA has been hosting the vulnerability discovery competition "WhiteHat Together" in collaboration with CJ OliveNetworks and FinderGap. The competition has attracted a total of 541 white-hat hackers, who have uncovered 1,184 vulnerabilities across 8 small and medium-sized enterprises and 4 universities. Among these, numerous high-risk vulnerabilities that could potentially lead to personal information breaches were identified. These vulnerabilities were promptly reported to the respective companies and universities, where swift measures were taken to eliminate them. The rewards given to reporters increased by approximately 50% compared to last year, totaling $65 million KRW.

Kim Sung-jin, the Grand Prize winner, shared his thoughts, saying, "I feel incredibly proud to have received this award as a result of years of studying in the field of information security." He added, "I hope this opportunity inspires other students to take an interest in information security and that the university will offer more courses related to this field in the future."
