This program, organized by the Korea Foundation for Women in Science, Engineering, and Technology (WISET), aims to nurture female talent in STEM fields by enhancing their research capabilities and leadership skills while supporting their advancement in their respective fields of study.

Kim Bo-kyung, a second-semester master’s student in the Department of Chemical Engineering, collaborated with undergraduate seniors Lim Ji-yoon, Lee Soo-yeon, and Jung Eun-ah to conduct a 7-month research project from April to October on the topic of "Enzymatic Synthesis and Process Design of Puerarin Ester." The team won first place in the "2024 Graduate Women in Engineering Research Team Support Program Advanced Course Results Presentation (Biotechnology and Food Engineering Category)" held on Friday, October 25, 2024, qualifying them to represent their academic field in the final presentation of the advanced course.

As an undergraduate senior, Kim Bo-kyung received Encouragement Awards in the "17th College of Engineering Academic Festival (Chemical Engineering Category)" and the "2023 MY (Multi-Y) Capstone Design Competition," both hosted by our university. Additionally, she won the Excellence Award in the 2023 "Hello Bio!" Online Press Corps program organized by the Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering. In November, she was also honored with the Kwangwoon Talent Award, presented by Kwangwoon University, in recognition of her creative and ambitious academic activities.

Kim Bo-kyung stated, "This research project was a valuable opportunity to enhance my research capabilities and leadership skills as a principal investigator during my master's program." She added, "Building on this experience, I will continue striving to grow as a skilled professional in the field of biochemical engineering."

Professor Park Chul-hwan (Department of Chemical Engineering) remarked, "Watching students grow through their passionate research efforts is the most rewarding aspect of being an educator." He added, "I look forward to seeing them develop into leaders in the smart bio industry and pioneers of the biotechnology era."
