A research team from the Next-Generation
Integrated Circuits and Systems Design Lab (NICS Design Lab), led by Professor
Chae Joo-hyung (Department of Electronic Communication Engineering) at
Kwangwoon University, consisting of students Yoon Joo-hyung, Yoo Yong-kyu, and
Lee Jong-min, won the Bronze Award at the 2024 Korean University Semiconductor
Circuit Design Contest.
With the
growing demand and increasing importance of on-device AI, the significance of
LPDDR (Low-Power Double Data Rate) memory, used in laptops, smartphones, and
tablets, has also risen substantially. To enhance the performance of such
devices, it is crucial to improve the transmission speed and energy efficiency
of LPDDR memory interfaces. The research team presented their findings on
improving the performance of next-generation LPDDR memory interface
transceivers.
The 2024 Korean
University Semiconductor Circuit Design Contest, organized by the Institute of
Semiconductor Engineers, aims to cultivate full custom integrated circuit
design skills among university students nationwide and to discover innovative
ideas and semiconductor design technologies. This year, a total of 15 teams
advanced to the finals and received awards among the many participating teams.
