Shin Hyun-Soo (School of Software, pictured on the right) from Kwangwoon University won the Gold Award in the 22nd TOPCIT Regular Assessment. The award ceremony was held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

TOPCIT (Test of Practical Competency in IT) is a software competency assessment test organized and conducted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), and the Korea Productivity Center. The regular assessments are held twice a year.

 

As part of the Kwangwoon SW-Centered University Project, the College of AI Convergence at Kwangwoon University supported the application fees for the 22nd TOPCIT Regular Assessment on October 12, 2024.

 

Shin Hyun-Soo (School of Software) was selected as the Gold Award winner in the 22nd TOPCIT Regular Assessment, receiving the IITP Director's Award along with a prize of overseas training. The Gold Award, presented by the Director of the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation, is awarded for the 2nd place among a total of 7,432 SW majors from universities nationwide and related field workers who participated in the evaluation.

 

Shin Hyun-Soo shared his thoughts, saying, "I am happy that my long-standing interest and efforts in the field of software have led to this honorable award. I sincerely thank my advisor and everyone who has congratulated and encouraged me along the way."

 

Professor Kim Yong-Hyuk (School of Software) expressed his congratulations, saying, "This Gold Award is a source of pride for our department and a remarkable achievement that proves Shin Hyun-Soo's outstanding abilities. We look forward to seeing him shine on bigger stages in the future."

 

Meanwhile, the College of AI Convergence at Kwangwoon University, as part of the Kwangwoon SW-Centered University Project, is running various programs such as the "Industry-Academia Linked SW Project," "Summer SW School," "TOPCIT Regular Assessment Support Program," "Pre-Admission SW Education for Non-IT Freshmen," and "Short-Term Intensive SW Convergence Programmer Training Program for Non-IT Majors During Vacations."
