Understanding Visual Culture

This class aims to develop the basic knowledges and perspectives as a tool to approach contemporary visual culture. The comprehensive practise of digital media literacy from analysis, interpretation, criticism to creation of visual experiences will encourage students to challenge further specialized and inter-disciplinary media and communication studies.

Media, Culture and Society

This course will give an overview of major theories of digital culture and media and introduce diverse social, artistic, theoretical and cultural practices which constitute today's digital domains and virtual environments. 3D Stereoscopic Production

In this class, students study the concept of 3D Stereocopy and the basic theory of engineering. This course contents are planning, storytelling, composition and shooting for stereoscopic film making. This process comes to promote stereographer's ability.

Digital Media Industry & Policy

This course reviews recent media industries and regulatory frameworks in the digital environment.

Media and Gender

aims to investigate and understand media issues on gender and sexuality. We will approach various media areas, such as novels, TV shows, advertisements, films and internet archives, encompassing multi- sensical media representations (written, sonic, wisual texts). Exploring critical imaginations of gender politico-culture will be one of the most important aims in this class.

Public Campaign

As a society gets bigger and busier, selling 'good will'to public becomes more and more important. Social campaigns for non-profit organization, corporate campaigns or so called 'CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility)'for companies and public campaigns of governments, are becoming an important area of focus in advertising and marketing. Planning the social campaign is quite different from planning products of services, in that it needs to induce behavioral change of a person or a group rather than just attitude change. For instance, preventive campaigns from social diseases such as smoking drunken drive, and abortion, or energy save, environment protection, and various messages for better community always needs the actual volunteering behaviors and participation. Thus, it needs quite different mechanism from that of consumer purchansing behaviors. Researching on psychology of public and socio-cultural backgrounds in addition to various promotional strategies of marketing.

Also emphasized are historical and politico-cultural backgrounds of various local cultures.
